BLODS & KESR Present:
Murder on the Bodiam Express
Step aboard the Kent & East Sussex Railway for an unforgettable evening of intrigue, deception, and drama.
The year is 1953. Signalman Harry Godfrey has been found dead in his box at Tenterden — and the killer may be sitting just a few carriages away. DCI Thomas needs your help to untangle the web of lies and secrets before the murderer escapes down the line.
As the train steams through the Kent countryside, you and your fellow passengers will study evidence, question the suspects, and piece together the truth. Is it greed, jealousy, blackmail, or betrayal that drove someone to murder?
At journey’s end, you’ll cast your verdict. Will you uncover the real culprit… or let the killer walk free?
Departing Tenterden Station 15th October 2025 - 18:30pm - 21:45pm
WHO IS HARRY’S KILLER?
-
SUSPECT 1 - Reverend Arthur Pembroke,
A respected vicar with a troubled conscience. Though devoted to his parish, whispers of missing church valuables and a fondness for drink have begun to tarnish his reputation. Why did he visit the signal box that morning — to offer spiritual counsel, or to recover something more worldly?
-
SUSPECT 2 - Her Grace, Eleanor Cavendish-Hurst,
An imposing aristocrat fiercely protective of her only daughter. When she discovered the young woman’s romance with a humble signalman, she vowed to put an end to it. Was her visit to Harry Godfrey a mother’s warning, or did her refined manners mask something more sinister?
-
SUSPECT 3 - Reginald ‘Reggie’ Cutler,
A well-dressed “businessman” with a reputation for making money in unconventional ways. His dealings often raise questions, and his connections are rarely respectable. What business could possibly have taken him into the signalman’s box on the day of Harry’s death?
-
SUSPECT 4 - Jacqui McQuade
A sharp-tongued local journalist always chasing her next big scoop. Her articles on railway mishaps and scandals sell well, but her cosy relationship with the signalman has raised eyebrows. Was she merely buying stories — or was she helping create them?
-
SUSPECT 5 - Bernard Whitcombe
The wealthy but irritable owner of the local brewery. With shipments delayed and profits dwindling after a recent derailment, Whitcombe had much to lose. Known for his quick temper, he claimed he confronted Harry only about business — but was there more at stake?
-
SUSPECT 6 - Margaret ‘Peggy’ Henshaw,
A bright young secretary at the local motor dealership, with dreams far beyond typewriters and ledgers. Her friendship with Harry dates back to school days, but her employer’s rivalry with the railway casts suspicion on her loyalties. Was Peggy an innocent caught in the middle, or playing a more dangerous role?
-
DCI Thomas
A sharp-witted detective with a dry sense of humour and a flair for the dramatic, DCI Cash has been tasked with leading the investigation into Harry Godfrey’s untimely death. Known for his quick tongue and unconventional methods, he isn’t afraid to put suspects on the spot — or enlist the help of an eager audience to crack the case. With charm, wit, and a keen eye for detail, he keeps both suspects and passengers on their toes.
-
DCI Percy
Ever loyal and keen to impress, DCI Percy is Thomas’s trusted aide. A war hero without loosing his sense of humour, Percy offers some comic relief as well as practical support throughout the journey. Percy ensures that no stone is left unturned, guiding passengers through the twists and turns of the investigation with warmth and wit.
