Meet the BLODS Committee

The BLODS committee is made up of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the continued success of our society. They are responsible for managing the day-to-day running of BLODS, from organising productions and fundraising events to maintaining our theatre home and supporting our members.

Each committee member brings their own skills, enthusiasm, and passion for the performing arts, helping to create a vibrant and welcoming community for performers, backstage crews, and audiences alike. Together, we guide the society’s direction, preserve its traditions, and ensure its future for generations to come.

  • Chairman

Henri joined BLODS in 2005 as a fresh-faced actor and is now our weathered Chairman. He enjoys all aspects of working for BLODS, whether that’s behind the scenes or in the spotlight. He has directed many BLODS productions, including the NODA award winning and fabulously festive Elf the Musical in 2022 at the De La Warr Pavilion.

  • Simon joined BLODS in 2018 for or the play CCTV, seven years he has performed in seven shows and directed five plays for BLODS Theatre. Simon trained and performed for many years with The Hastings Stage Studio.

  • Claire brings a wealth of experience from her extensive work directing numerous school productions as a KS1 and Drama teacher at Claremont School. A true lover of the stage, Claire has also graced many musicals over the years with her own performances. When not immersed in theatre, she's a busy mum to a cricket-mad 12-year-old, whom she's (gently!) trying to persuade to join her in the performing arts.

  • Mike has worked with BLODS in many productions since 2017. Mike builds all our the BLODS Theatre set’s and ensures the hall is in full working order.

  • Amber has worked with BLODS for many years, supporting her partner Simon with his productions.

Amber can usually be found managing lighting for shows at the same time as operating sound effects on two different machines

  • Lisa has nurtured a passion for musicals and performing since the age of 15, when she performed at her school talent contest. Her early enthusiasm led her to compete in the Hastings Music Festival, setting the foundation for her lifelong love of the performing arts. After a 25-year hiatus, Lisa made a return to the stage, firstly performing with Ensemble Productions then joining BLODS in 2022 in their production of ‘Elf The Musical’ Recently Lisa stared as Beverly Moss in ‘Abigales Party’

  • Kitson attended the London Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he learned a multitude of skills for musical theatre, both on and off the stage.
As a long standing member of BLODS for nearly 12 years, Kitson has directed some of their larger productions, including winning three NODA awards for, Copacabana (2011), AIDA (2012)
    and Jekyll & Hyde (2017).
Kitson has performed for BLODS as Uncle Fester in The Addams Family (2018), Frank Butler in Annie Get your Gun (2014) & Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (2010).

  • Jules join BLODS in 2022 for Elf, winning the Directors Award. Jules also started in How the Other Half Loves as ‘Mary’ the long suffering wife to William.
